Jean,

While black-on-black crime is problematic (as problematic as white-on-white, latino-on-latino crime, etc.), it is 1. not at all relevant when discussing SOME police officers disregard for black lives, their inability to effectively diffuse situations that leads to them shooting/killing blacks, the lack of accountability on their parts when these unfortunate incidents happen and the justice that is rarely — if ever — served in these situations and 2. black-on-black crime is not the cause of nervous cops shooting blacks.

While no one can deny that some parts of the country are dangerous and violent places, one cannot also deny that police officers are supposed to be the best trained people in the world to serve those neighborhoods. This is their profession. Nerves CANNOT be an excuse for not properly performing their job. That’s not acceptable in any other profession.

It’s also unequivocally false (and ignorant) to say that BLM folks (and others from these neighborhoods) have never protested against violent black crime. There are people every day doing everything they can to serve these neighborhoods and combat the issues going on. People every day are working in those neighborhoods to educate and take care of the young people in those areas. People every day are calling out to and working with elected officials to try to fix the problems. If there is anyone who is culpable in this situation, it’s the folks (maybe this is you, maybe not) who aren’t working to help these areas where poverty is rampant and people are living in conditions comparable to some third world countries.
