2017: A Year in #DCTech News

Because I aggregate DC Tech news on my website http://dctechcal.com/, I have a nice dataset of our our tech headlines and summary year-over-year. For fun, I decided to dig into the themes and trends from our news in 2017.

25 Most Common Headline Phrases

I wanted to know what phrases, groups, people, or topics were the most repeated in our headlines from 2017. With an online text analyzer, I found the following:

  1. DC Tech

Most Common Headline Words

While not as interesting as phrases, I also was curious as to which individual words showed up most frequently in our headlines.

I used the most frequent headline words to generate the word cloud seen here.

Publication Volume By Week

I charted our publication volume by week-of-the-year and found that we started the year strong, slowed down at the end, and had a busy summer after a slow May.
