A Glimpse into the Eternal

6 years ago I had a dream that changed my life. It was a glimpse into the Eternal that I have not experienced ever since. In my dream I had died but started walking on earth, in a city, towards something, but it wasn’t revealed at first. I kept walking and other people were walking with me. As I lifted my gaze towards the skyline, a radiant light started rising behind the buildings. The light was so unbelievably bright and a structure more beautiful than anything I had ever seen in my life starting to rise from behind the skyscrapers.

I tell my friends that it was like seeing the Magic Kingdom for the first time as a kid but only 30 times more beautiful. As I kept walking closer, people were falling on their knees and crying tears of joy in the streets. We all knew what it was. I could see the entrance as we gravitated closer to the big stone doorway that was moving back in on itself to let everyone in. I began weeping because I could not handle the joy that filled my entire being. Everyone was welcome. As I was about to walk in, I woke up.
The peace that passed all my understanding had washed me ashore back to reality and I laid there feeling so alive that I was ready to die just to get back to where I had been. Nothing else mattered.

For just a moment God pulls back the curtain and gives us a glimpse into the Eternal. If this was close to what Peter, James, and John got to experience during the Transfiguration, I can’t imagine how strengthened their faith must have become as Jesus revealed his truly divine nature. For me, that morning will have the ability to sustain me for the rest of my journey that will ultimately bring us back into the infinite and endless joy of heaven. Psalm 121
