It’s Not About Race!
John Metta

John Metta,

I’m so glad I read this. Thank you for taking the time to write it all out. You’ve articulated the very thing that makes me lose my patience time and time again with my mom, my stepmom, my stepdad and loads of other people briefly encountered on the internet.

Culture is just not necessarily our friend. It becomes…carved in stone and then accepted and celebrated by those wearing blinders as “how it’s supposed to be.” Rather than, maybe, “what I’m used to” ?

Evolution is slower than I would like it to be. I truly thought we’d gotten somewhere solid back in the 60’s & 70’s and have felt grief seeing how untrue that is during this shitty election season. It’s really opened my eyes.

I’m grateful you have such clarity and the ability to put it into words. I hope you keep on writing.
