Really good insight into the perils of chasing growth too quickly. I’ve been through laying off employees multiple times and it is probably the worst part of managing or leading people. They say “it isn’t personal, it’s business” but to someone, it is always personal.
Thanks for sharing to tell others that, hey, it’s OK to feel crappy about having to lay people off, particularly if you feel like your decisions had something to do with the circumstances requiring it.
And I appreciate your pursuit of reducing risk in the business and chasing a cash flow positive position, in spite of peers. That shows a level of maturity and concern for the company (and its employees) that others seem to miss in a reckless chase after more growth. I wish more companies felt the same level of corporate responsibility.
Appreciate what you do. Appreciate your transparency.
