What’s the Right Magic Mushroom Dose?

People who are new to magic mushrooms often feel doubt when their trips are starting to take effect. “Did I take too much? Maybe this dose is more than I can handle?” Shroomers who worry about dosage eventually allow anxiety to take over. They lead themselves to a bad trip and the next 6 hours become punishing instead of insightful.

If you’ve ever been in this position, then you probably agree that the challenge of determining the right dosage is critical for a great psychedelic experience. Yes, you want the best experience but you wouldn’t want to go to the deep end too soon.

Thanks to a recent study from Johns Hopkins, we are one step away from finding out the right dosage when taking magic mushrooms and magic truffles.

The study was led by Dr. Roland Griffiths, the same person who pioneered the study of psilocybin’s effects on depressed patients who are suffering from terminal cancer. This latest study was geared towards evaluating the positive and negative experience of subjects at different doses. To perform this, 18 able-bodied volunteers received four different levels of magic mushroom dosages and lied down with headphones.

The highest dose used in the study is 30mg of psilocybin per 70kg participant weight. It’s equivalent to a little below 5 grams of dried magic mushrooms — quite a powerful dose. At this strength, it seems experiencing a bad trip is more likely because a third of the participants reported significant psychological struggle characterized by fear, anxiety, and stress. However, four out of five volunteers reported this high dose created one of the top five most spiritual events of their existence.

Going down the ladder, the next lower dose is 20mg per 70kg of body weight — the equivalent of 3g of dried magic mushrooms or magic truffles. All volunteers said their experiences were positive and only one reported any negativity. As the dosages became lower, the experiences became less profound but the bad trips also became less common.

Even with smaller doses the effects are still long-lasting. Over a year later, the researchers followed up with the test subjects and most of them claimed their experience with taking truffle mushrooms is still one of the most spiritually significant events of their lives.

What do these findings mean for the ordinary shroomers? This research shows at low dosages, psilocybin from magic mushrooms can create long-lasting positive changes. People don’t need to gorge on extreme magic mushroom doses to go on a life-changing trip. If you’re a beginner, you can still take a lower shroom dose to experience their positive effects without suffering through the negative psychological challenges of a bad trip.

In the end, there aren’t any hard and fast rules in getting the “right” dosage of magic mushrooms. As long as you pay attention to set, setting, and your tolerance, you will still receive the experience you want. Just be prepared to go through an intense, transformational experience. Be ready to face deep-seated fears and forgotten issues.

Dosage is only one component of the psychedelic experience. Keep yourself in a supportive, therapeutic, and safe environment.

Most shroomers agree there’s no safer or more familiar environment than your own home. Order magic truffles online from Truffle Magic to have a psychedelic experience without needing to step outside.
