Why I can’t share my name on Medium
THIS is why I’m the Secret Developer
The Secret Developer isn’t something that should need to exist. Yes, there is gossip and bad practice in software development. From interviews, to sexism, to racism, to drug taking, I’ve seen it all and I’d love to share my thoughts with you about it all.
However, that isn’t the primary reason why I’ve felt I need to set up this account.
That, unfortunately is because I can’t be me.
My personal brand
Working as a software developer, to any level of quality, will require you to prove your worth. Since few tech companies adequately train interviewers you need to convince them both of your cultural fit (a large barrier for many I’ve met through interview) and technical skills.
If you want to avoid the facts quiz that some interviewers put you thorough you’ll need to give them Internet-based evidence of your competency. Need to make a successful side-project? Yeah, you do. Need a website. You really have to. A few LinkedIn articles and blog posts, you’d better have that.
Activity on your Twitter account should be software development related, if you wish to show yourself to be that 10x developer your target organization requires.
