So many Raspberry Pis and others, too little time. With Kafka, MiNiFi, Python, Java, MQTT and sensors.

When setting up a Raspberry Pi 5, I get a high speed 128GB microSD card and burn it with the latest 64bit image with Raspberry Pi Imager.

SD Card in the Mac PowerBook
Running Raspberry Pi Imager
Pick your device
Choose recommended 64-bit OS
Edit Settings
Set your WiFi, Locale, Host Name, User Name and Password
You want SSH
Let’s know we are done

After setup (make sure you do the extras in the imager so it will auto-boot up perfect. I set the WiFi, but I also plug in the ethernet to my switch.

We are up and running. Let’s SSH in.

too may sbcs
apt-get upgrade -Y
apt-get update -Y
curl -s "https://get.sdkman.io" | bash
# https://spacy.io/usage

The WiFi is really good, but always more stable if we can just plug into a switch with ethernet.

I got a switch for Christmas

What should we do next?

Perhaps give away a fully setup Raspberry Pi at the next event?
