How Tickets Work
MARS APPROACHES:
Under optimal conditions, it takes roughly 9 months to travel from Earth to Mars.
On August 1, 2021 we broke ground on our trans-dimensional manufacturing plant, Tom Sachs: Rocket Factory. Our community used the blockchain as a tool for building. Component NFTs were assembled into Rocket NFTs through our process of com-burning. Physical Rockets were built, matching their digital-twin NFT, and launched in meat-space. Those Rockets are in Earth orbit, waiting to dock with the Mothership, and begin Tom Sachs: Rocket Factory — Phase II.
Tomorrow is April 1st, 2022. It has been 8 months since the Rocket Factory opened its doors. Final preparations are underway. Mars approaches.
MOTHERSHIP AIR:
In Phase I, we Assembled Rockets. In Phase II, our Rockets will rendezvous with the Mothership, travel to Mars, mine the surface, extract its resources, and return to Earth laden with Mars Rock NFTs. Phase II starts with minting Mothership Ticket NFTs, your pass to join the Mothership, and mine the Martian surface.
Mothership Air’s Ticketing Office will open April 1, 2022 at 10:00AM ET on www.tomsachsrocketfactory.com. Rocket NFT, and Test Flight Crew Patch NFT holders will be eligible to claim Mothership Ticket NFTs.
Ticket Class:
The Mothership offers three classes of service: First Class, Business Class, and Economy Class. Ticket Class determines a passenger’s luggage allowance on the Mothership. Luggage allowance is the quantity of Mars Rock NFTs a Ticket NFT may mine. (A detailed explanation of the relationship between luggage allowance and Mars Rock NFT quantity will be released in the lead-up to the Mars Rock NFT mining mission.)
Ticket Class is assigned based on the qualifying NFT’s metadata. Below is an outline of each Ticket Class:
- First Class +++: The highest Ticket Class available. Rockets with (3) Stickers are automatically upgraded to First Class +++ Ticket NFT (regardless of Launched or “Pending Launch” Status). First Class +++ includes (3) Steamer Trunks in its luggage allowance. Each Steamer Trunk allows a passenger to mine substantially more Mars Rock NFTs.
- First Class ++: Rockets with (2) Stickers are automatically upgraded to First Class ++ Ticket NFT (regardless of Launched or “Pending Launch” Status). First Class ++ includes (2) Steamer Trunks in its luggage allowance. Each Steamer Trunk allows a passenger to mine substantially more Mars Rock NFTs.
- First Class +: Rockets with (1) Sticker are automatically upgraded to a First Class + Ticket NFT (regardless of Launched or “Pending Launch” Status). First Class + includes (1) Steamer Trunk in its luggage allowance. Each Steamer Trunk allows a passenger to mine substantially more Mars Rock NFTs.
- First Class: Rocket NFTs that have Launched, or are “Pending Launch” are assigned a First Class Ticket NFT. Note: to be eligible, a Rocket must already be scheduled to Launch at the time a Ticket NFT is claimed.
- Business Class: Assembled, un-Launched Rockets are assigned a Business Class Ticket NFT. Note: Scheduling a Rocket for Launch after its corresponding Ticket NFT is issued will NOT change the Ticket NFT’s Class.
- Economy Class: Every Test Flight Crew Patch NFT is eligible to claim an Economy Class Ticket NFT.
MECHANICS:
A Ticket NFT will act as a mint pass to mint Rock NFT(s) in the upcoming Mars Rock NFT mining mission. Ticket NFTs may ONLY be minted/claimed by Rocket NFT, or Test Flight Crew Patch NFT holders.
Cost:
Ticket NFTs are free to mint (just pay gas).
Token Standard + Collection:
Ticket NFTs will be ERC-1155 tokens. There will be 6 Ticket NFT options in the Collection (One for every possible Ticket Class).
How Long is Minting Open?:
The window to mint a Ticket NFT will open April 1, 2022, and will close on April 20, 2022.
Rocket Assembly + Launch Scheduling Deadlines:
A Rocket NFT Assembled during the Ticket NFT mint window is still eligible to claim a corresponding Ticket NFT. If a Rocket commits to Launch at any future Launch event while the Ticketing window is open it will be eligible to claim a corresponding Ticket NFT (Note: to be eligible for a First Class Ticket, a Rocket must already be scheduled to Launch at the time a Ticket NFT is claimed. Scheduling to Launch after the corresponding Ticket NFT is minted will not change its Ticket Class).
How Many Tickets Can I Mint?:
One (1) Ticket NFT may be claimed for each corresponding qualifying NFT. A qualifying NFT may only be used once to claim a Ticket NFT. Rocket NFTs that have been used to claim a Ticket NFT will have a temporary “Ticket Claimed” graphic applied. (Note: the cache on sites like Opensea may not reflect this change immediately. See Verifying below)
Verifying if A Rocket Has Already Claimed a Ticket:
Opensea’s cache may not update a “Ticket Claimed” graphic immediately. To verify if a Rocket has been used to claim a Ticket NFT — visit www.tomsachsrocketfactory.com/rockets-and-components and find the corresponding Rocket NFT. A Rocket NFT’s Opensea page contains a shortcut link button (the square icon, with a diagonal arrow in the upper right-hand side of the page). Follow this button to verify a Rocket’s eligibility to claim a Ticket NFT.
Can I Sell my Ticket NFT?:
Minted Ticket NFTs may be transferred, bought, or sold through a secondary marketplace, like Opensea.
Do I Need a Ticket NFT for the Mars Rock NFT Mining Mission?:
Participation in the upcoming Mars Rock NFT mining mission requires ONLY a Ticket NFT. A Rocket NFT, or Test Flight Crew Patch NFT are not required to participate in the Mars Rock NFT mining mission. Equally, ONLY a Ticket NFT will allow access to the Mars Rock NFT mining mission.
Can I Mint a Mars Rock NFT Without a Ticket?:
Following the Mars Rock NFT mining mission, an unknown quantity of Mars Rock NFTs will be available in a public mint. More specific information about the Rock NFT mechanics will be announced in the lead-up to the Mars mining mission.
No Rush — Keep Gas Low:
For every qualifying NFT there is a corresponding Ticket NFT. If you hold a qualifying NFT — there is a Ticket NFT reserved for you. The final day to claim Ticket NFTs will be April 20, 2022. There is no difference between being the first, or last to mint a Ticket NFT. If gas is high, do not feel the pressure to mint right then and there — you have time.
In the Rocket Factory, the reward for good work is more work. As we continue to grow our universe, participation will always be rewarded.

Tom Sachs (b. 1966) is an American contemporary artist, and bricoleur (handyman) working in New York City. Sachs’ genre defying mixed media sculptures, often recreations of modern icons using everyday materials, show all of the work that goes into producing an object — a reversal of modernization’s trend towards products with cleaner, simpler, and more perfect edges. Sachs’s sculptures are conspicuously handmade; lovingly cobbled together from plywood, resin, steel, and ceramic. The scars and imperfections in the sculptures tell the story of how it came into being and remove it from the realm of miraculous conception. His studio team functions like a teaching hospital, or cult, that worships plywood and an ethos of transparency.
He has done major collaborations with brands like Nike, which have realized a number of innovative products and U.S. utility patents. Major art exhibitions include the Space Program, a demonstration of all that is necessary for survival, scientific exploration, resource harvesting, and colonization in extraterrestrial environments. His works are held in museum collections around the world, including the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Museum of Modern Art — New York, the Centre Georges Pompidou — Paris, Metropolitan Museum of Art — New York, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Astrup Fearnley Museet for Moderne Kunst — Oslo, Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
