Suggestion for the August Smart Home Lock

I’ve installed the August Smart Lock on both of the doors of my house. The locks started off a little sketchy but I am happy to say that August has been making great improvements to the locks and the iOS app over the past year. They have dramatically improved the time it takes to connect to the lock via bluetooth and that is a huge improvement. I have a simple suggestion that I think will make the August Lock even better.

The Problem: One of the main frustrations with the August lock is that when I leave the house I have to wait outside my door while I open the app, navigate to the proper lock screen, wait for bluetooth to connect to the lock, and then finally lock the door. This can take 10–30 seconds depending on a few factors. This is much longer when compared to simply locking the door handle on the way out and exiting the building. I think I have a solution to this problem.

The Suggestion: If August Lock had a simple button on it that would lock the door in, say, 10–20 seconds. This would allow me to hit the button on the lock, exit the building and have it lock behind me. This would dramatically improve my experience with the August lock. Obviously this is a hardware upgrade so it won’t be applied to my locks, but I still think it would be a great improvement. Just a humble suggestion from a loyal user. Thanks for listening.
