Beginner Yoga — Cat/Cow Pose

The cat/cow pose is basically two poses done together. Obviously, you can do them separately, but they really work well in conjunction with each other. This one can be done any time that you need some relief in your back and shoulders.

Why the Cat/Cow Pose

What the Cat/Cow Pose (Sanskrit: CHAKRAVAKASANA) is meant to do for you.

The Cat/Cow Pose is a great one to start an exercise routine with. It helps get you centered, helps to align your body, and provides a great stretch for your hips and back.

It helps to improve your flexibility in your neck, shoulders, spine, and lower back. It will also stretch your core muscles in your hips, back, abdomen, and chest.

The two positions help to release the tension that you may have in your neck and upper back. It can be done at any time during the day when you need some relief.

Doing the Cat/Cow Pose

  1. Start on your hands and knees with your hands directly under your shoulders and your knees under your hips.
