The Mountain Pose could be named that because of the position of the arms. I haven’t found anything regarding the name’s history yet. It is one of the most basic Yoga positions, but it still has benefits. Most often, it is used as a transition pose while performing yoga.

Why the Mountain Pose

What the Mountain Pose (Sanskrit: TADASANA) is meant to do for you.

The Mountain Pose is the foundation for all standing poses, according to YogaBasics. It helps you to improve your alignment and balance and it can help you improve your posture.

It is also great for achieving more flexibility, relieving pain, and building strength.

Doing the Mountain Pose

  1. Put your feet close together with your big toes touching each other and your heels slightly separated. This will make the outer part of your feet parallel.
  2. Make sure that your weight is distributed evenly between the pressure points of your feet; your toes and heels.
  3. Do your best to lift your arches of your feet and press down on the outer edges of your feet.
  4. Slightly bend your knees.
