My Mode of Learning

Personally, I have found that I learn best through kinetics — being able to touch, move, do or physically hold something helps me understand a concept or idea much better than absorbing information visually or through auditory learning.

When I attempt to understand a new idea, especially in math or physics, I find that working out a problem on a whiteboard serves me far greater than watching someone else work out the problem. Most times, I am able to replicate what the instructor did just by watching them perform an example, but I’m merely going through the motions. To fully understand and imprint the idea in my mind, I have to actually perform the problem by myself.

This applies to all sorts of things, not just math or physics—as a former four year varsity wrestler, I was able to pick up on many different techniques and positions much faster than my peers; creating new Bionicles—a LEGO-like toy, was one of my favorite past-times as a child. I become competent in making them after enough practice, and threw out the instructions all-together.

My learning style is suited to kinetic learning.
