Love is both powerful and gentle.
Love is the right moment,
the right second,
of the right night,
in the right room.
It isn’t sought after, it is shared.
It defeats every other emotion,
including rationality,
the hows, whys, what ifs.
It just is.
Some might say it takes work,
but really,
love is worth working for.
Love is the person that comes to mind
when you hear the word,
the one who understands,
who just gets it.
Love is obvious, calm,
devastating, disorienting,
life-changing, relaxing,
refreshing, invigorating,
defenseless,
and it’s one hundred percent sure.

Happy Valentine’s Day 2024, to the person who comes to mind when I write love poems.
I mean every word here.
I don’t often write about love, so when I do it feels especially meaningful to me.
I’m actually not going to write much more in this post, because I would rather spend more time with this person tonight.
