Need More Leads? A Simple Guide To Google’s New Ad Extension.

Google announced the new search network advertising feature at the end of October and the rollout is already underway. Seeing that the extension is currently in beta, many google advertisers have questions on the functions, applications, and success of the extension. Let's look at what it is, what it looks like, and how you can claim the leads it captures.

So, What Is It?

In short, the extension allows customers to fill out a form directly on the Google search page. It is semi-customizable by allowing an advertiser to select form requirements and the copy on the form.

After a potential customer fills out the form, they will find themselves on a confirmation page that also allows them to continue onto your website or go back to google for some more searching.

How Do Customers First See It?

Like many of the other search campaign extensions, the lead form extension appears at the bottom of an ad on the search results page. It includes a call-to-action and icon all inclosed in a clickable box.

Google offers many different call-to-action options for advertisers to use like Learn More, Get Offer, Sign Up, Download, and more.

Cool, How Do I Collect My Leads?

There are two options for lead collection.

Option #1 is to directly download the leads from your google ads account. This downloads into a .CSV file and can be saved and used however you want.

Make sure you download your leads frequently because google will only save them for 30 days.

Option #2 is through the optional delivery option on the extension creation page.

This option allows advertisers to use their own API or webhook which is connected to your CRM. Learn how to set that option up here.

Conclusion

Google’s new search extension is a great way to entice potential customers to give information and may give online advertisers the chance to create fewer steps in their sales funnel.

The big question is whether potential customers will be willing to give their personal information on the search page before looking through a brand’s website first.
