Challenging your problem-solving skills and demonstrate resilience

This blog is basically about the challenges faced by anyone while collecting donations. We are running a campaign to collect funds for the Akhuwat Foundation, which is an NGO working on education and elevating poverty by paying interest-free loans. This week, we decided to collect funds in groups by visiting different public places. Our target was to collect donations from Model Town Lahore. I realized that collecting donations online is somehow easier as compared to in-person collection. Especially when you are collecting donations in the hot summer. Anyhow, our whole group decided to meet and gather at Model Town Park Lahore to start a donation drive. Our leader and co-leader instructed the whole team what to say in front of donors to present our case. A guy from the Al Khidmat Foundation also joined us to guide and lead the donation drive.

Now lets move to the challenges we have faced during this donation drive. The first challenge was the temperature and the shinning Sun. The day was too hot and we saw less public in park. We were not allowed to take cash during this donation drive so many of the guys were giving us cash which we refused and they have no online payment recourse available at that time. Last challenge was the restriction of collecting donation. We didn’t took permission from the Model Town Administration which resulted in termination of drive after half time but we have collected a handsome amount during that limited time frame.

It was my first time collecting donations, and I realized that one has to kill their ego to do this kind of work. I enjoyed the donation drive because it was a total new experience. I hope I will continue collecting donations in the future as well. Experiencing new things will always teach a new lesson. At last, I am grateful to Amal Academy for providing me with such a beautiful opportunity filled with new experiences and adventures.
