The depression that follows graduation

Why is it that the moments we hoped would be the best sometimes give you a backlash and we end up being simply sad, instead of being the overjoyed self that we had always imagined.

When exactly are we the happiest, when was the last time we felt grand.

During my years at college I always imagined one day leaving it and feeling great about it but the moment it finally happened I realised that I had bonded myself to the building. At first I felt great but when the reality sinked in that I had lost my identity as a student…suddenly the world seemed harsh.

The questions of WHAT AM I starting arising. Of course I knew that I had majored in Nutrition but did that really mater.

So the feeling my people of the dark side of accomplishment is always there but the real matter is how to over come it.

So here are some points that I think helps

1) Write a letter to yourself

Yes that’s right a letter to your own self. So what should be in the letter? Be your own councillor write what you want to accomplish and what kind of life do you want for your self. Write your own mission statement and read it from time to time.

1) Be productive

Just getting up early helps. Gods way of making the night for sleeping and mornings for work is the ultimate truth. Late nights and sleeping all day does no help at all.

2) Choose a hobby

When ever the question of hobby comes I always think it’s better to have something that does not involve people. Like taking on the phone it makes you emotionally drained. Hobbies like reading, painting, sewing seems to help more. Books of self help genre need to be incorporated in your life. (My favourite is 7 habbits of highly effective teenagers.)

3) Make small goals

At the end of the day before sleeping analyze your day. Like did you eat healthy, or exercise today.

So yeh! bottom line is do things that make you proud or your self. It’s everyday greatness that matters and if we are happy we can then make others happy and good things follow.
