Take Your Medicine, They Say…
I’ve always had a negative physical reaction to medicine. Drugs of any type, even vitamins have a strong effect on my body. More to the point, medicine almost always tastes horrible and goes down rough.
Take your medicine, they say.
It’s good for you.
Let’s explore a new context for the word ‘medicine’ in relation to spiritual growth. This medicine may also appear to taste bad and sometimes goes down rough.
But just like medicine for our physical body, medicine for our spirit leads to greater healing, wholeness and vitality.

Connected Medicine
You begin to notice synchronicities — your friend recommends a book on a particular topic, a song lyric describes the exact same thing and the main character in tonight’s movie is exploring it once again.
Receive this medicine: what you are supposed to pay attention to right now?
Intuitive Medicine
Your intuition is shouting go this way, go this way! Unfortunately you go that way.
Receive this medicine: learn how to trust your inner voice. (Hint: bitter taste may be offset by double chocolate ice cream)
Compassion Medicine
Vulnerability feels super scary but on this day you open your heart and reveal your shadow. One of your tribe holds space for your journey with no need to change you or make you wrong.
Receive this medicine and reciprocate as often as possible, for you too are a healer.(Not to be confused with being a fixer, which is not medicine, but poison)
Medicine — our ability to receive our life lessons with grace, humor and open arms. Every person we meet is our teacher and we are theirs.
