The first blog of many!

I first heard about The Iron Yard through an ad on Pandora radio. It got me thinking. I had wanted to delve into the programming world, originally trying to teach myself Object C, but I was never really good at self-paced courses. When I heard that TIY would be a full time course, with homework everyday, I knew that it was going to be exactly what I needed. In college, I always did better in the classes that required a lot of practice, giving me that constant reinforcement.

I’m both nervous and excited about starting a completely new career. I was a teacher for 8 years, and I really missed being in the student role….answering questions, solving problems, etc. Working through the JS courses on codecademy made me realize that this is what I had been missing. Solving problems/riddles has always been very satisfying to me, and I started to get those same emotions when I was able to figure out how to get my code to run successfully.

I’m definitely out of my comfort zone, but, hey, that’s where all the cool stuff happens, right? I say BRING IT ON!!
