10 Simple Tips to Run Better Workshops Using Miro

  1. Plan the workshop with varied activities and regular breaks.
  2. Set-up the Miro board in advance with all the components that participants need for the activities (e.g. Sticky Notes in bulks).
  3. Limit the number of attendees to as many you can see on the screen at once.
  4. Use a practice board with an icebreaker activity, in advance to get participants familiar with the tool and avoid surprises (e.g. no access).
  5. Use Frames for the different activities to navigate easier through the workshop.
  6. Lock design/placeholder components to avoid participants accidentally moving the wrong items (e.g. frames, text, shapes).
  7. Set your start view to make sure everyone is looking at the right part of the board at the beginning of the workshop.
  8. Ask everyone to turn their camera on and use gallery view in your chosen video-communication service.
  9. Avoid sharing your screen as much as possible: instead, participants can have the video call and the Miro board on either separate monitors or desktops.
  10. Bring everyone to your view before every activity and confirm if they are looking at the right Frame.
