Sentiment analysis can indeed do wonders in the way your bot converses. I experimented with sentiments when we started building our initial bots at Morph.ai.
However, as it turned out with time, the kind of bots people are visualising or trying to make, they already know whether they are talking to a happy user or an angry one based on the path a user has chosen.
We discontinued development efforts then, but I keep thinking about ways we can utilize sentiments better and stronger.
I strongly feel that the initials steps of humanising chatbot conversations would happen through basic things like sentiment analysis, spelling leniency and synonym understanding.
