Two points:

First, I agree Hersh raised more questions than he’s answered, but it’s not good practice to threaten people for information. If he’s telling the truth he’s going to need all the encouragement he can get. Threatening him basically is a way of intimidating him into *not* coming forward.

Second, a lot of people are reading into his “real world” comment as fearing for his career or his life. It could also be for his source, which would make him a little bit more of a responsible journalists. You should consider every possibility, not just the most conniving.
