Thanks for the well thought out response Brandon.
So I’m definitely not against a casual interview style, I’ve just found casual can be misconstrued to mean unprofessional, which it does not need to be.
I do get that teams want to know about a dev before they hire them, but why can’t these 3/4/5 hour interviews be split up into multiple stages? I also feel if someone does not do well in a multi hour interview environment, it does not necessarily mean they will also not do well working within the team 8 hours a day for many months / years.
Your other points are fair and appreciated.
