There’s an insurance commercial that’s been playing here a lot recently that perfectly encapsulates this trend. A young couple finds a broken leaking pipe in the ceiling and the man says “I can fix that”, to which the woman responds by laughing mockingly and simply saying “no”, as if admonishing a child.

This is exactly how men are portrayed in modern media, as bumbling, ineffectual, hopelessly lost without a woman to guide. Curious that the all-powerful Patriarchy Council would allow this kind of treatment of its favored sons…
