Ear candling

Ear candling is suction of earwax out from the ear canal by placing a burning candle straight adjacent to the ear hole. The traditional treatment is done even now.

About foot length, hollow fabric cones covered totally in paraffin wax, soy wax or beeswax ear candles — its pointed ends are placed in the ears. The only part lit is its slightly wider end. Such a treatment is named ear candling that is still popular among the masses in Brisbane though the intensity like the traditional times has significantly reduced. It is because the process has no scientifically proved benefits.

How is the procedure carried out?
The patients opting for ear candling in Brisbane is made to lie on their side with one year faced up while the other faced down. Then the candle’s pointed end is inserted into the ear hole of the face-up ear. The practitioner adjusts it for creating a seal. They even make sure to place a circular guard about two-thirds way down that very candle to trap the dripping wax.
A towel is used to cover the head and neck for enhancing additional protection.
The practitioners make sure to hold the candle straight for the drippings to roll down other than dropping on the face or inside the ear.
The candle is let to burn for a maximum of 15 minutes, and the burned fabric is trimmed so that the tube is prevented from contamination.
Until the candle burns down to 4 inches, the procedure continues, after which the practitioners extinguish the flame carefully. They never blow it out until it is inside the ear since hazardous ash can fly about.
The practitioner vertically cuts open the candle once the procedure is over, to draw out the materials from the ear.
The lit candle is believed to create enough suction generating warmth. Due to the warmth, the suction draws the wax and impurities out from the ear canal.

The Supposed Functions of the Ear Candling
Although the process is popular among handful masses in Brisbane yet the process is followed since it is believed that ear candling is useful in the treatment of —
• Earaches and removing earwax build-ups, debris and bacteria in the ear canal
• Eliminating tinnitus or ringing in ears
• Curing ear infections
• Sore throats reliefs
• Treating flu and cold symptoms
• Treating sinus infections
• Curing hearing problems
• Reducing dizziness or vertigo
• Reducing tension and stress
• Blood purification
• Mental clarity improvement

Earwax build-up takes place in the ear canal that takes place when the person keeps on digging fingers inside the ears. The wax gets pushed deeper inside the ear canal. The ancient ear candling belief is still being practiced, even if the scientific beneficiary proofs are limited.
