Wizards make everything better

When you next login to Twelvestack you’ll notice a few changes have happened. Here’s the skinny…
Our early adopters have been giving us some great feedback on challenges they’ve faced getting started with Twelvestack, and how we could make the process smoother. We’ve been eagerly listening to them, with the net result being that we’ve added two new features, detailed below.
New Quick-Start homepage
When you login to the Admin console now, instead of seeing the dashboard with your account statistics, you’re greeted with the ‘Quick Start’ homepage. This homepage provides shortcuts to make it easier to access the common features that one does on Twelvestack. In particular, for new users there is a clear call-to-action to Get Started with creating a drive.

As you can see, the dashboard has now become the first tab on the header, so it’s still easy to get to.
New Create Drive Wizard
The most common feedback we’ve got is that embedded drives into sites can be cumbersome, with lots of bouncing back and forth between documentation, the Twelvestack Admin console and the target platform, plus challenges getting embed codes to work etc.
To solve this, we’ve overhauled the Create Drive functionality to behave more like a wizard:
Step 1: Provide a name for your drive. We’ll create your drive right away at this point.

Step 2: Provide the domain name for your site, so we can put it straight into the trusted hosts for you.

Step 3: Tell us where you’re embedding your drive, so we can provide target-specific instructions :)

Step 4: And that’s it! We generate the Embed Codes for your target platform and also provide instructions in the Admin console for embedding right away.

Hopefully that will mean you’ll have a much smoother ride from creating a drive through to embedding that drive on your target platform.
By generating Embed Codes in the Admin console directly, we’ve been able to significantly simplify our documentation as well.
The last change we’ve made is to make drives active by default. Prior to this, any drive you created was inactive by default, such that you needed to explicitly put it online in the drive configuration. To provide a more streamlined experience when creating drives, we decided active by default would be low-impact on the security of new drives and would generally make life easier. Because making life easier is what we’re all about :)
So that’s it! We hope you like the changes and they make using Twelvestack a little smoother.
Cheerio! Simon
PS: Twelvestack Files is a file browser you embed in your website: it’s perfect for capturing leads, publishing whitepapers, distributing digital product samples or providing existing users with support materials. Fancy giving it a whirl? Sign up here
PPS: We wanted our Quick Start to feature the Wizard Penguin, but unfortunately he didn’t make it past the branding gatekeeper. Don’t worry, we’ll find a way to sneek him in :)
