We are bringing online birth control via telemedicine to Maryland! Maryland has a strong history of supporting access to reproductive and sexual healthcare.

Twentyeight Health is the first online birth control provider in Maryland

In 1998, Maryland became the first state to mandate contraceptive coverage, and in 2016, Maryland became the first state to legislate the most comprehensive insurance coverage of birth control in the nation!

In January of 2018, Maryland’s Contraceptive Equity Act went into effect, significantly increasing access by:

  • Eliminating most co-payments for birth control
  • Providing insurance coverage for over-the-counter contraceptive medications, like emergency contraception such as Plan B
  • Allowing an individual to receive six months of birth control at one time so that she no longer has to return to her doctor or to the pharmacy each month

However, there are still a ways to go for improving contraceptive access. Nearly 300,000 women in Maryland are in need of publicly funded contraceptive services and supplies. Of these women, 10,060 live in counties without a single health center that provides the full range of birth control methods

Our mission at Twentyeight is to expand access to reproductive and sexual for all, regardless of socioeconomic background. In addition to providing telehealth options to get the pill, patch, ring and emergency contraception, we will be accepting Medicaid, making it even easier for women to get $0 copay contraceptives.

Welcome Maryland!
