I like this statement, it is clear cut, and creates a mindset that is looking for solutions rather then dreading potential problems.

From a beginner’s standpoint, I see this as a double-edged sword. You end up looking at things from very far back. Your checklist may look simply like “learn angular 2" where a more detailed look at a learning strategy might be “learn typescript, learn components, …” and from someone who might be just starting out they may have learned faster with that consolidated step by step guide.

It’s important to remember your final statement of being happy with your own pace, rather than time yourself by someone else’s clock!
