How to Drive Traffic to Your Online Store
It’s the question constantly on the mind of all eCommerce entrepreneurs: How can I drive more traffic to my online store? More visitors means more customers (if your site is optimized for conversions, of course). We’ve compiled a few strategies to use for times when your site needs a little (or big!) boost:
- Contact Instagram influencers
Get in touch with Influencers (people with large social media followings) relevant to your industry. Reach out to them to see if they would be interested in trying out your product and sharing it on their account if they like it. Followers will trust the Influencer’s opinion — it’s essentially like a review or testimonial broadcasted to thousands!
2. Get featured on blogs or in the press
This is similar to reaching out to Influencers, but instead of Instagram, get in touch with bloggers and the local press in order to get the word out about your site.
3. Have friends and family share your site
Ask your friends and family to share your site on their social media accounts. A post to their personal Facebook page spreads the word from a real, trustworthy person to their highly localized networks, which can lead to tons of traffic and potential customers.
4. Create shareable content
One way to drive traffic to your site is to constantly create shareable content, such as blogs, infographics, or tutorials. Post these to your site and you can also upload them to StumbleUpon or Pinterest in order to get more eyes on them. Make sure to always link back to your page so when content gets shared viewers and readers can get back to your site!
5. Highly targeted social media ad campaigns
Start up a social media ad campaign! Paid advertisements that use targeting technology will make sure to get your ads in front of the right eyes. Creating a targeted ad campaign will not only boost your traffic, but will also increase your conversion rate.
6. Create an email campaign
Sending out an email campaign is a great way to drive traffic to your site from past customers. They may have signed up for your email list a while back but has since long forgotten about your site. Remind them to visit your page by creating an email campaign with a call-to-action, such as “Shop Now” or “Visit Our Site.” Offering a deal exclusively through an email campaign can also be a great way to get subscribers back to your site.
7. Optimize your site for SEO
Make sure all your posts use SEO keywords and that your product descriptions are detailed and relevant in order to improve your site’s SEO. Make sure to use keywords that are as specific to your content as possible. Having an SEO-optimized site will lead more visitors to your site.
8. Create a referral program
Create a referral program so that customers bring in more customers. Offer discounts or deals in exchange for sending your product or site via email to friends, or for sharing your product on social media. Customers who participate will likely revisit your site to use the discount, and their friends will trust that your product is worth the purchase.
