Deadly Class

After I heard that the SyFy channel was going to roll out a new show called “Deadly Class” based off of a comic book series, I immediately jumped online and purchased me a copy. This is sort of a unique story, assassin school, teenagers, the eighties. A lot of good stuff from a few angles. The main “hero” is not a hero by the basic definition. Somewhere along the lines the hero shines and defends his friends when needed.

The Cost of Living, by David Moody

A series of short stories told as if there could be a different ending to the problem. The problem or route of the issue is that there is a plague out in the world and it is very similar to a zombie break out. I thought that the story was unique enough and captured the actual fears of what a father who barely knows his family would do to solve the issue, and a wife with kids who just obey what is told even though they all know that they will run out of rations or attacked by the infected mob.

Wonder Woman

If you have read any of the other writings I have had about DC movies, you will know that I am not too partial to them. The story writing lacks something that just draws an avid movie watch and a comic book fan into it. Wonder Woman has all of these elements, but with more mythology. The story and the way it is told is 100% rip off of Captain America: The First Avenger. Nothing wrong with borrowing a story line from another movie, movie do it all the time. But this one was way too close to home, it another comic book movie looking for an artifact with a super powered person who has help from a non-super powered person.

Baby Driver

When I saw this, I was in one of those moods where no one was around and there was nothing to do so why not watch Baby Driver. My experience with the movie was just the same. The soundtrack was great, I spent a lot of time looking up new artists. But I did not pay attention to the movie. Great driver with maybe a disability, hot girl got into the mix, there is an underlining story of how the driver has to get himself out of trouble blah blah. Very typical story with a great sound track.

A Netflix original story. Well it is a good story, but for those that have seen Ghost in the Shell will know the story pretty well. Except for the cybernetic body parts and the Major. Great concept that hits close to home is some ways.

Avengers: Infinity War

Well, by now pretty much everyone has seen the movie. It is one of the, if not the, largest grossing film at the time. It is by far one of the best stories of the year. Being able to tie 10 years of movies together into one last battle. Those of out there probably enjoyed the homage at the end of the movie, where it sort of picks up in the Gauntlet Wars. It is definitely a great movie, even if you have not seen all of the past movies. The next movie is going to be even better.

Sapiens

So over the years of being a manager, director, someone who has tried to get people on board with the objective of the company. Reading books like; Zero to One, Remote, The Power of Habit, Great at Work, etc. Then to read this book, well listen to this book, and realize all of it is for nothing. Not a simple statement, I will admit. But learning in a simple way how humans/sapiens evolved over time. That greed and corruption just drives the most of what is done in the world all of the books you read this will show you. It just sort of disrupts the core of what the world is trying to do or is doing and makes you wonder… is there a way to do anything different? To me it seems like we always keep following the same cycle.

Journaling

I have been working on this presentation idea for a quite some time now. It is, as the title suggest, about journaling. What I am attempting now is to just write the ideas out, see how it feels, maybe add more context here and there. Journaling, the simple concept of writing down or doodling what is in your head onto a piece of paper (yes, paper) for a minimum amount of time and then repeat over and over each day. Its simple, so why do people not do this everyday?

Legion Season 2

Of all the Marvel television shows, this is the best. Season 2 starts off where it left off, exactly thinking “WTF”. I want this to bleed into the MCU, not the X-Men Universe, the Avengers universe. Just something about the story can make so much to happen go forward i.e. The Onslaught story line (btw is one of my favorite stories). So if we can bring X-Men, Avengers, Wolverine, Spider-Man, Deadpool all together. We can have an ultimate story line all tied to this television show.

Krypton

So my overall review is that it is good. Something of an origin of an origin story. Something that DC has done really well is make their television shows actually have character. This is not what Marvel has been able to done. The reverse though, Marvel is accelling at movies, but not television. What DC needs to learn from this, is to take the characters that they have allowed to be used in their television shows and make them into actual movies.
