I agree with you on this William! The word “stereotype” in and of itself has taken on such a negative connotation and evokes a great deal of sensitivity that people get wrapped around seeing themselves put in a certain pot and not looking at the bigger picture. Stereotypes and generalizations are useful, but as long as we continue to deny that they exist and deny our place in relation to certain stereotypes, our social problems (gender, racial, religious, etc.) will continue to exist.
