God means what he says. What he says goes. His powerful Word is sharp as a surgeon’s scalpel, cutting through everything, whether doubt or defense, laying us open to listen and obey. Nothing and no one is impervious to God’s Word. We can’t get away from it — no matter what. (Hebrews 4:12–13 MSG)

Today (and every day) I praise God for His Word and His Love — His Grace and His Mercy. Because without it I am nothing and like it says in His Word — we can’t get away from it.

20 days. 2 weeks into the Internal Affairs (IA) case. My son and his friends that stood by him that night will never be the same, but this has without no doubt made them stronger and my hope is wiser. And, my prayer throughout this is has been that God would have a platform for change. Every day, I can see that in our waiting, God is working.

Thank you for your prayers and all the have reached out to either ask me about my son, or even reach out to him to check on him. There have been more than a few they have not only reached out to Colby and shared from their own experiences. But, then there are a handful that have experienced something similar, and may have even blow off what Colby experienced or just glanced over my post with no reaction because they figure it happens to everyone. And, there is definitely truth in their opinion, because though we are all called and sometimes refuse to step into our purpose and passion. There is freedom in knowing that it does not have to happen.

Today my heart is heavy for those that may not have reached out and has become numb or willing to accept things as a normal and not an opportunity. Don’t get me wrong, not everyone knows who, where, or how to affect change when you are in the middle of the storm. But, let me tell you about my God who will give you peace in the midst of the storm, rest in a sea of chaos, and a plan even in the valley. We do not go through things to be quiet. It is a test that is futile ground for developing your testimony. Don’t let the mess overcome the message. Don’t settle for what happened to you as the normal, but allow God to make you so uncomfortable that it become second nature to help that helpless, to be a voice for the wounded and allow those things that breaks the heart of God to break yours.

Stand up. speak up. Be the change you want to see, because it truly starts with you and me.
