Misleading and Deceptive

Why do we just accept that people, politicians and businesses can and will mislead us to their own ends? How did it happen that we made it okay for politicians to remain willfully ignorant so as to retain their ideological viewpoint in the face of overwhelming evidence that they are wrong?

There has to be a better way, and a higher standard.

It is not okay to lie, deceive and mislead people. The ends do not justify the means.
