Apple’s Gaming Struggles Could Be Huge for Sony.

Throughout the years, developers and publishers have steered clear of Apple. While once a major company in the 90s for the latest games like Bungie’s Marathon, today, next to no major titles land on Apple’s suite of devices. In this piece, I bring up a hypothetical situation to where Sony and Apple help each other out.

Apple continues to gain little to no traction.

Despite wanting to regain traction in the major gaming field, Apple has seen next to no care from the mass AAA landscape. The richest company in the world has partnered with Capcom for Resident Evil Village, Hello Games for No Man’s Sky, and even Kojima Productions for Death Stranding to land on macOS. The unfortunate situation is that while these games have made an appearance, it’s very doubtful this will sway developers.

The power of the M1 and M2 chips from Apple have shown capable of being able to run AAA titles at respectable settings, alongside their Pro, Max, and Ultra counterparts. The iPhone giant now has the hardware possible to say to Activision Blizzard something like “Hey, we can now run Call of Duty on Mac” or to Square Enix and say “Final Fantasy XVI is now possible on Mac and even iPad” but it likely will take a lump some of money to convince these publishers to port their titles.
