While Las Vegas makes a lot of money off “whales” (rich who can afford to lose a few million), the majority of casinos are set up in lower income areas and feed off the folks who can least afford to lose money. In Louisiana, there are literally hundreds of “casinos” set up along the highways; most of these just have slot machines and gaming devices but they are packed a lot of the time and bring in about $280M a year! These casinos are mainly in truck stops or co-located in convenience stores, not places where the rich people normally frequent…
