We as college football fans have to stop the madness
Now that we have gotten that initial taste of college football, something needs to be addressed. I would like to take a minute of your day to point something out and make a plea. Before I talk about something that bothers me, let us at least recap something that makes us smile.
It happens every year without fail, college football returns and we get the first taste of what the regular season will look like. Sure there aren’t a lot of games played nor are the slotted games normally all that evenly matched, but we enjoy it just the same. We take in as many hype films and hoopla going into the week. We finally get the first College Game Day episode of the season. Yet there honestly should be only one gripe about the shortened week: the name of the week.
I don’t know who came up with the name of the week. I don’t know why we still call it that, but week zero? If I have zero apples, then there are not any apples in my possession. So if we have a week zero of college football, it would seem there’s no college football. Who came up with that ridiculous name and why are we still using it?
It does not even sound pretty: “And now we have week zero of college football.” It does not flow, does not sound intelligent, it stinks. Can we please debate on perhaps changing the name? How about let’s change the name to the primary week of college football or college football’s primary week? It makes it sound more important, it flows, and doesn’t make the person saying that in conversation look foolish. Big question: will week zero be represented in the new EA Sports college football game? Will it be called that? This might be a hot take but week zero has to go. Literally anything would probably sound better.
