On June 16, 1903, a man and his twelve colleagues invested a total of $28,000 into a small business idea they had. Over a decade later and thousands of mistakes along the way, that small business is what we’ve come to know as the present-day Ford Motor company. The world rewards pioneers, industry innovators, and those that are brave enough to forge their own path. J’Adore Les Fleurs is no different, they have built a flower-filled empire.

J’Adore Les Fleurs is an up-scale specialty floral boutique that remains family-owned and operated today. J’ Adore Les Fleurs is THE trendsetter company in the floral industry that has been carrying its legacy & heritage since its inception. They developed a branded yet original concept and stayed true to their roots since they went from one location to four along the West Coast.

Putting All the Pieces Together: Identity through Innovation

What happens when we see a company trying to please everyone and essentially wear ten shoes at once? The majority fail.

What I’ve seen at J’adore Les Fleurs is the exact opposite. This company has successfully identified their identity, and they have one incredible trip to Paris, France, to thank for that. Paris possesses rich and luxurious attractiveness in all aspects. Using Parisian culture, fashion, and packaging, they developed a brand that focused not only on the flowers and the creativity of the arrangements themselves but also focused on presentation (Victorian Era Hat boxes) and important, details such as their logo

The team at J’adore found themselves Going back to their origins through Paris and French culture. Paris is like a walking museum, and when they were there, they noticed the beautiful architecture and the flowers cascading down the buildings, the flower gardens in Palais-Royal and Luxembourg. This took them back to the origins of their mother-in-law, who was in the floral industry. J’adore Les Fleurs took her strength and history in floral design and revamped it with a more modern concept and brought the idea of packaging flowers, branding the concept, and delivering compositions to the West Coast.

The French packaging market was attractive and large in Europe- even in the USA; however, not many American brands focused on packaging-they focused more on the product. J’adore Les Fleurs wanted to focus on the packaging first, then the flowers. “First, we think inside the box! then outside the box” Their philosophy stands with that before you can think outside the box, you must think inside the box Hence, they used French culture and the ways they present their product in their business strategy. Their packaging is also an opportunity to tell their customers who they are as a brand and what they believe in.

How They Pioneered Their Industry in The US

J’Adore Les Fleurs was the first boutique floral shop to develop the branded hat-box flower arrangement concept in the USA. They have successfully Developed a brand and service that has grown from fierce customer loyalty to their quality products.

The company has even been dubbed the Chanel” of flower shops by their beloved customers.

The big reason they have achieved their success and recognition this far has come from developing a brand that continues to inspire the floral industry through their ICONIC, bespoke, and original designs and packaging. J’adore Les Fleurs has proven that a small floral shop can do more than just sell flowers; they have created art through extravagance and a brand that represents a symbol of uniqueness. Over the past few years, we have seen JLF do a tremendous job in using all brand positioning such as lifestyle, problem and solution-based, experience-based, feature-based, and value-based positioning. But throughout that entire journey, they too have experienced their fair share of obstacles like every business does. How they handled it is what separates them from the competition.

When I asked the founders of J’adore Les Fleurs (Eliza Glants & Alisa Tovmanyan) what we could expect from them over the next few years, I was met with gleeful optimism for a bright future within the company. I was told to anticipate these changes- New innovative packaging of flowers ( new box designs, colors, materials, providing upgrades to existing products, more locations in different states and countries, and lastly, expanding the brand to include additional product lines inspired by the beautiful world of flowers. It’s remarkable how far J’adore Les Fleurs has come, starting from one small flower shop in Studio City, California, to three boutiques in the greater Los Angeles area, and a fourth in Las Vegas. It goes without saying that with enough grit and resilience you can start small and eventually accomplish your wildest dreams.
