Blur of the Orange

Leaves speak to us in the sounds they make
as they crackle on the ground,
heedless and frightened,
redolent of loneliness or solitude or one that should be the other.

a bold leaf will catch our gaze if not for a moment,
take us away from that dark place,
the one where visiting thoughts scurry to when guests are not welcome.

the colors blend in an emblem of solace,
soothing our dark hearts through the blur of the orange.
