“Immortal Mortality”

“Immortal Mortality”

I’ve been singing with the sun for far too long.

My voice now raw with what once made me strong.

I’m stunned to be among the throngs of battered antibodies

Pinned down by a splintered season that spits bacillus bile at every body

I’m a shell amid an ocean of seasonal shipwrecked retreat

A stoned stone rummaging the beach for something to eat

Caught up in the clouds, waiting on a rapture of reason,

Sifting for a sojourn among the stilted sands of my sweetheart season

Frozen in my tangled veins of melancholy microbes

My mortality — my invisible lighthouse, my forever darkened dancing light strobes
