This is a terrific guide to navigating corporate politics and building (and protecting) influence/ownership.

This is also particularly interesting because looking at your personal website, it looks like you have experience in a lot of different UX capabilities; code, visual design, research, strategy/documentation. I’d have to assume that having experience in all these different areas and knowing how to communicate in each would give a significant advantage when ‘fighting’ with different business units.
