How to use supplements, and how to not.
It’s the same old song and dance. I get asked what supplements should be taken to burn fat or to build muscle. I’ll admit, I used to be lured by the same “magic pills” that would turn me into a new age Adonis. However, there is no such thing, not legally anyway. Sorry. I can’t sugarcoat it, supplements aren’t the end all be all of the fitness industry.
The very name by which supplements are titled with indicates the only way that you can use them; to supplement. Its that simple. It’s entirely illogical to think that you can be healthy by just downing an unconscionable amount of pills and powder. While the industry would have you think that this is the only way to be healthy, it’s just not true and I’m tired of people being misguided. Its time we take the power back!

The power of our health lies within what and how much we eat. Different lifestyle factors will effect these two components of nutrition and will guide us to what we all seek; things such as activity level, stress, sleep habits, weight, age, and even past history of how and what we ate. There is no cookie cutter diet regimen. One way of eating will not be effective for everyone because of the aforementioned factors. All I can say is STOP looking for the magic supplement and get your nutrition in line first. Who really can out-supplement a bad diet?
I guess the answer to the title of this article would be to EAT real food and supplement your diet with things only necessary to optimize health. I think this is common sense but there are millions of Americans who buy into the notion that some pills will make all the difference in the world when logically; pizza, ice cream and beer are not staples in a smart and healthy diet protocol.
