It’s the second week of Andela Bootcamp. It has been a period of intensive learning filled with different challenging tasks. You cannot run away from challenges in Andela so you have to adapt to it. Challenges in Andela is seen as an opportunity to grow and learn.

Prior to bootcamp, I was in this atmosphere of comfort. I would sleep for more than six hours, wake up late in the morning, study for few hours and then hangout with friends till evening time. After that, I would take a rest for about two hours and then do some coding lessons till bedtime which is ten o’’clock pm.

However, all that changed on the very first day of bootcamp. We were required to submit output on Git, TDD and programming logic. I had no knowledge on how to use git so I took a crash course on codecademy. I was able to submit all the required output for that day before the deadline but the next three days were so challenging. The power supply was erratic, and unpredictable. That alone was sufficient to destabilize me. I searched around for a public library with steady electricity. Fortunately, I was able to find one. So, each day we have an assigned tasks to solve, I went to the library feeling energized for the tasks ahead.

There will always be challenges in every work environment but that’s not excuse to perform poorly. Challenges should be seen as an opportunity to grow and learn.
