Our fight or flight reactions have been honed from birth to be in overdrive. It’s a terrible superpower, but a superpower nonetheless. Maybe your lack of trust has ensured that you have not become a skin suit in some basement somewhere, despite associating with some seriously deranged characters in your youth. Or perhaps your depression has allowed you to put life in perspective or to help others going through the same thing, when every other idiot tells them to exercise more. Maybe your narcissm has made you the CEO of a company — even though you should probably get that checked out. Maybe your compulsions have helped you become a meticulous artist. Maybe your tender heart has made someone fall head-over-heels in love with you.
