Facing Your Fear of Failure by Raising Funds for Edhi Foundation

“Have pity on those who are fearful of taking up a pen, or a paintbrush, or an instrument, or a tool because they are afraid that someone has already done so better than they could” -Paulo Coelho, The Pilgrimage

It was the first ever experience, may be for all of us, “Fund Raising for Edhi’s Foundation” and the idea of worthwhile place “Liberty Market”, known as ancient place, was finally brought to an end. “Batch 13 and 14 have already collected more than 1 lac”, was a little bit shocking news for us and the thoughts like fund raising would be strenuous, time consuming, and whether it would be appealing to the audience or not started revolving in our minds but we remember “Fear that they might never “make it” doing what they are passionate about”.

On Thursday afternoon, we gathered at Liberty Market with handful of posters and cards swaying from necks to catch the attention of audience. We asked for donations to as many people as we could. Many people felt sorry but it never hesitated our struggle in continuing serving for humanity. We remembered that how we had learned how to go extra mile. So we proceeded and the result was even more than our expectations. While we were busy collecting funds we found a man approaching towards us and said”Have you asked anyone for doing this? You are not allowed to do without permission”. We had to tell them that we are working for a humanity cause and your support in this regard will be rewarded by your Creator. We followed “Sabr-e-Jamil” and got out of that situation when he finally agreed to give permission to continue. Our campaign goes from afternoon till evening and we were successful in collecting funds for Edhi’s foundation.

Here is what the findings of our fellows are,

”The experience was awesome and we realized why Edhi Sahib used the strategy because it was not to get money from people but to make them serve for the humanity. Many people don’t bothered to listen but we were able to go extra mile as we followed “Sabr-e-Jamil”.

We learnt Pakistani people are more generous. It was one of the best project so far because we learnt the values of respect for humanity. People were paying because they remembered Edhi and his life full of serving for humanity. People usually trust our youth and have got a great respect for Edhi’s foundation. Together we can make a difference to make the world a better place.

We all should keep serving for humanity and remain involved in such a type of activities because it not only eliminates the fear of failures but helps to remember that “A one rupee can save a life of one human being”.
