So what’s a use-case were the touchscreen comes into play? I have a hard time imagining exactly what it would be, that would not be easier done with the trackpad / keyboard that your hands are already resting on?

It also opens up the entire issue of the UI having to be appropriate for a touch interface. Most buttons in MacOS would have a much too small tap-area for what is considered minimum-requirements for a touch-interface.
