How to become a great UX designer without a degree

Valid perhaps if written 5+ years ago, today this piece does employers and would-be employees a disservice.

The bar is set high for $87k UX jobs. No degree AND basically no work experience won’t get you through the door.

That’s not saying you can’t go the self-taught route. However, you’d need: 1) a very impressive portfolio with hopefully some paid work, 2) a demonstrable, full command of UX principles and techniques, 3) the proper soft skills and 4) to fit into their workplace culture.
