Benny Au Prize 🇭🇰
Mayu Kunihisa🇯🇵

Message from Benny Au
It is such a difficult task to choose one from the 8 outstanding artists. When I saw Mayu Kunihisa’s works during the preliminary selection, her works really shined through, the simple and abstract lines contain profound meaning to me. I once commented that “Kunihisa uses her body as a center point and her arm as the radius to depict a personal space. The movement of her body, the extension of space, and the remaining void on the canvas, whether it is yet to be explored or a universe which cannot be reached? It is indeed thought-provoking.” Her works are like music variations, where the theme is repeated over and over, with layers of lines and colors overlapped, transforming into different harmonies, melodies and rhythms that is touching to many. Perhaps, this is the music playing inside Kunihisa’s heart?

DAN MATUTINA Prize 🇵🇭

I’m really impressed by how Nut Dao can convey feelings and emotions with his illustrations. I was even more impressed with the new set of works he made for the final round.

Lulu Kouno 🇯🇵

Message from Eric Zhu
I was impressed her unique and epicritic sense of visual language that she has been having. I see they have a breakthrough power and her pure imagination as an artist. She expressed all the beautiful things and her imagination by drawing which is very meaningful. Especially under this elusive era, I felt clear breeze by seeing her artworks. I think she has a potential to be an influential artist in the future. She needs more chances and experiences to grow up and to create even better works. I like her works for this tournament. I noticed more detailed and richer expression with simpler and clearer concept. During the COVID-19 circumstance, we became more awareness to the world. Insight to pure nature seems to be more important. She has this part, and I like it. And colors. Colors she used were not too thick. But I felt emotions in paintings touch to audiences, and I felt the life there.

One person standing in the colorful abstract world. His worked has an unique and mysterious world. I had an impression of “biological clean”. I also felt pure sound. Many things come to my heart. Shape of organic objects is interesting, It is like a futuristic and a dream that I can enter in my imagination. I had a great impression to see his works at the beginning, and it still lasts. His works are the Grand Prize for me.

Message from Ignatius Hermawan Tanzil
Nut Dao is fine contemporary and a multidisciplinary artist. I see the value of true artist, where his work is growing and he keeps experimenting new things ( media, technic ) These days as an artist, not enough to create only beautiful things ! Process and conceptual thinking behind the work is important and much as the massage you are going to tell to everybody about his art. Note: I love Lulu as well ( she so energetic and loving person ) but I prefer more contemporary . I thing she is going to win ….people love the work and personality ! Congratulations for ubies for ubisum .

Colors and images with oriental mystery are painted on white porcelain, making people feel that they have to carefully taste the images on the paintings. At first sigh, I think that white porcelain seems to have functional characteristics, but I don’t know how to use it.

Michael Ng aka Mindflyer Prize 🇸🇬

She has very good detailing and amazing artistry. I love how she can embellish and craft her artwork to look more than just commercial work. The final piece is really stunning in execution! It really delighted me to see how she can still make full use of her magic touch on an art object without losing her prowess in her detailing and drawing!

Season Lao Prize 🇲🇴
Rumpaporn Vorasiha 🇹🇭

Message from Season Lao
The more we pursue modernization and the expansion of globalism, the more we lose the balance of nature. Rumpaporn Vorasiha created impactful scenes, Telling people the invisible path of destruction. The people in the pictures with unclear facial expressions are both of us. Coincidentally, When human activity is limited by Coronavirus nowadays. On the opposite side the natural environment is getting recover. I sympathize with the message she wants to convey from the work.

Nut Dao is a next generation in Thai. He has a great balance of visual sense. As a graphic designer and an illustrators he has involved numerous exellent works, and the most epic thing is that he challenged to “art world” on this ubisum tournament. I feel his constant passion and endurance to challenge and to go on beyond the limits. I would like to send hearty cheers to him expecting his future steps in the art field, too.

I hope more active circumstances for award received creators in the future making relationship with the judge. It would be wonderful for new collaborations, projects and so on. Lastly but not least, we would like to thank all the judges for your existence, support and understanding to us despite of very experimental online tournament this time.
