Warning: Only For Legal And Ethical Businesses

This took a while.

I’ve been contemplating whether to start blogging or not and for some reason, I always chose to put the idea on hold.

Until today that is.

One of the major reasons that stopped me from starting was the constant thought of…

“What will I write about?”

“What if I run out of ideas?”

“Why would people want to read my articles? They don’t know me.”

But then those thoughts were recently demolished last night when I read this book by Chris Orzechowski. (He’s a well-known email copywriter)

It’s called Client Acquisition. I got it for a measly $5 although it should be valued at a higher price.

That book basically gave me the slap on the butt that I needed to actually go out and start blogging.

What it also gave me was at least an idea on the first topic I should talk about in this very article you’re reading.

This very tactic you’re about to learn was what I noticed he used in every chapter of the book.

I went deeper and deeper into the book and this feature was prevalent everywhere.

He used it to persuade the reader to do a lot of things but blogging was what resonated with me the most.

And it worked (as you can tell)

You see the art of persuasion is no easy skill to master. But Chris used this tactic to hook me throughout the book.

This Simple but underestimated tactic is also transferrable to businesses and their copy, which is the direction I’ll be taking this article.

You know? because I’m a copywriter.

Anyways let’s say you put your product in front of people you’ve never met before and tell them to buy.

Chances are they’ll probably think you’re crazy.

And as much as you’d want them to go “Here’s my money. I want that.”

Sorry to break it to you but the majority of them won’t.

(Except they have a dying need for a product that solves their problem and yours happens to be in the right place at the right time. That’s not my point here.)

If they know nothing about you or your product, they’ll need a bit more convincing and persuasion before they can even consider pulling out their wallet.

There are several newer persuasion tips on the internet that could sway potential buyers to take the action you want.

But nothing beats this old-fashioned tactic:

The Art Of Storytelling

It’s been around for ages yet it still works like a charm in modern society. People share new stories with each other literally every day.

Stories are used to evoke certain emotions in your readers and according to studies people are more likely to buy and connect with you when they feel a sense of emotion towards either the product or service or the person telling the story.

It’s really the simplest tool out there you can use to get leads to perform the action you desire.

Which is the whole point of copywriting.

The stories have to be related to what your target audience desires and it HAS to be fun to read.

Reading a boring story can have the opposite effect of what you want. You want people to enjoy your stories…

Remember them if possible…

Relate to the story as much as they can (hence why it should match what your target audience desires)…

Be able to picture the plot of the story in their heads…

And most importantly as I mentioned before, Get them to perform your desired outcome.

So feel free to play with it as much as you like. It is YOUR story.
