Designers And The Print.
Designing is a concept that requires continuous learning. Every experienced designer has different stories about their personal experience to share but regardless, there are a few things that must be in place.
First is, we have two types of designers: the PRINT designer and the SCREEN designer. Each of these requires paying apt attention in producing required and desirable results. Most times, it always seems like the work you’ve done is error free, but it might just be a very rough pallette for the PRINTERS to work on.
Try as much as possible to avoid printing mistakes at your Peril.
If you don’t put in place a decent bleed in your artwork, you’re asking for trouble.
Designers always assume the PRINTERS should understand designing from their own standpoint but most times, it’s always the opposite case. They neither proofread nor try to edit what you send them without considering the fact that your own work is SCREEN based. Your final results (Artwork) has to be worth your time.
Printing errors are costly mistakes, and should be avoided by taking necessary precautionary steps. Assumptions are not tolerable in this line of work, so every project should be reviewed properly.
“It’s NOT about being awesome as a designer or with Adobe Products, it’s about being awesome with great DETAIL” — UCHEUGO
Always remember. Your client is your utmost priority. Mistakes are not tolerable. Take all the time you have to go through everything at your end and with the other designers you work with if there are any.
Double check everything, proofread the copy, check all addresses, phone numbers, emails, and websites URLs. Of course also check bad alignments, color problems, color profiles, and so on.
Lastly, let your client do a last check on your work before you proceed to the printing phase.
