THE RIGHT KIND OF FEMINIST
P.S it's a long read but you'd enjoy it

During the era of "Wife not Cook", "Men are trash" and "why should a woman take up a man's name?" on social media, I refrained from saying anything even though I wasn't in support of the "feminists". Due to the uproar it caused on social media, I launched myself into an in-depth research of feminism and I am here to share my findings. I am so sorry it took this long but I had to be sure.

NB: I am not trying to start a war here or anything so if you are looking for who to attack, please do NOT read beyond this point. This is strictly for people who wish to be educated. Thank you.

Most of our "feminists" do not know the history of feminism so I am going to break it down a bit here but if you want more information, please use Google and Wikipedia.
According to Wikipedia, "Feminism is a range of political movements, ideologies and social movements that share a common goal to define and advance political, economic, personal and social rights for women. This includes seeking to establish equal opportunities for women in education and employment". Feminism started in the 19th century. There are five waves of feminism
• First wave - focused on women sufferage and legal issues; primarily the right to vote. (1910- 1950s)
• Second wave - focused on sexuality, domestic violence and marital rape. (1960s-1980s)
• Third wave - focused on giving the woman the chance to express herself as an individual. It was called individualistic identity. (1990s-2008)
• Fourth wave - this is known as online feminism. It's mostly media related and it's more in line with what the third wave hoped to achieve. (2008-date)
• Fifth wave - it's yet to come but people already have ideas of what they think it should be.

We are in the fourth wave of feminism and truth be told that is the beginning of the problem. Note that every wave from the first to the third stood up for something women were being denied. They fought because women were unjustly treated and the law was not in their favour. There was also something called "Black Feminism". Women were cast aside because of the colour of their skin but some people fought for all that so women will not just be seen but also they can be heard. Some people here chanting "Wife not Cook" would have been the cook in a white woman's house if someone hasn't started the black feminism movement.

If you are smart enough, you could be a man's boss at the office. You agree to getting equal and even higher pay than a man but you can't lift something heavy.
Your excuse: heavy lifting is for boys.
Oh really? I thought you guys are equal. After all what a man can do a woman can do better.

All I am trying to say is "feminists" as we know them are crying children asking for more ice cream. Every right in the world is now available to women. "Why should I be the one to move into his house?", "why do I have to change my name to his?", "why should I be the one to cook?", "Men are trash" are all irrelevant arguments. They are all selfish arguments aimed at pampering some very lazy women

In the North, little girls are still being married out to old men.
Women in northern Nigeria don't have a voice. They are only seen
Women in politics are still cast aside (to an extent)
Human trafficking is still happening in Nigeria. Young woman are still lured abroad with promises of greener pastures and they are sold into sexual slavery
Some chibok girls are still warming the beds of boko haram insurgents
You haven't done anything about any of these things; you haven't even created a hashtag so your 11m followers can support a noble cause. Your problem is "why should I cook for my husband?" Just kuku ask him to start giving birth to kids too.

The right kind of feminist is selfless. The right kind of feminist will fight for something generations after her will benefit from. The right kind of feminist is a knight, a warrior and a hero.

Are you the right kind of feminist?
If you are not, be the right kind of feminist
Change begins with you
